26octAll DayLean Farm Start-up Intensive Workshop for Urban Farms with Ben Hartman

Event Details

An exclusive one-day intensive workshop with Ben Hartman, author of The Lean Farm

A full day of training in efficient growing techniques and lean farm set-up, especially for start-up market growers and urban farmers

In 2017, Ben Hartman and his wife, Rachel Hershberger, bought a large urban lot, sold their rural farm of 10 years, and started building a brand new farm, the Clay Bottom Farm, including a state of the art greenhouse. Their inspirations were Japanese market farms and the “Hof” that Ben’s German ancestors used as a house and an animal barn.

The Talking Farm is excited to partner with Ben Hartman for this intensive workshop. In this course, Ben will teach you about lean design principles for compact, urban farm set-up and smooth flow principles to design a lean market farming business. Ben will cover how to build lean greenhouses, processing rooms, propagation houses, wash-pack rooms, and more—all on a compact, urban scale.

Better design = happier farmers and more profitable farms! The course includes a light breakfast and lunch. Meet your production and sales goals and still have time for family and friends!
