AUA will be hosting its next Quarterly Gathering at the Arturo Velasquez Institute from 6 to 9PM on Wednesday, May 14, and it promises to be a good one.

In addition to our regular Potluck and Community Slideshow (more details below), the Spring Gathering will explore the big question of how to grow viable urban farming businesses with a panel and discussion about incubator farm projects across the city.

We’re excited to announce that the panel will be moderated by Mike Nowak of Chicago Progressive Talk Radio’s The Mike Nowak Show, and it will include representatives from the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Urban Farmer Incubator Program (which is part of Windy City Harvest, whose growing facilities and farmer training courses are based at the Arturo Velasquez Institute), Growing Power’s Farmers for Chicago New Farmer Incubation Program, The Pie Patch, and Liberty Prairie Foundation‘s Farm Business Development Center.

The evening will also include at least one Farm Tour of Windy City Harvest‘s inspiring onsite farm and indoor aquaponic facility!
